Contents Insurance
Often tenants do not realise that their Landlord's insurance does not cover their belongings. Tenants are required to take out adequate contents insurance to cover the cost of repair or replacement of their own contents/belongings. Tenants do not need to take out Buildings Insurance as this is the responsibility of the Landlord.
Accidental Damage
Tenants have a contractual obligation to look after the Landlord's property however, accidents can happen. If for example, you cause damage or cause dilapidations to the property, the cost (or a contribution) would normally be taken out of your deposit at the end of the tenancy. If you have insurance for accidental damage, this should cover the cost.
